The following series of posts outline detail on three CD 133.4 Wormser Style insulators (green, sky blue and SCA) which came from Southwestern Pennsylvania. The first post is on a green CD 133.4 which was acquired in 1978 from a local antique shop located in Waynesburg, PA. There were seven CD 133.4's that were available: the green one shown in this post, five sky blue, and one in deep Brookes blue. The green was is the best condition and all the sky blue and deep blue had base rim damage. I purchased the green, one sky blue and the deep blue for my collection. Specific details on the green CD 133.4 are as follows:

CD-133.4 No Embossing - 3 Piece Mold - Medium Green (Mint Except For an Open Bubble On The Rim) Measurements - 70mm Wide x 97 mm High.

I asked the owner if he knew where they were found. He did not know for sure, but he thought that the person that he got them from found them on the now abandon Waynesburg & Washington Railroad. This railroad operated - carried freight, coal and passengers from 1868 to 1929 - and connected the Greene County seat (Waynesburg, PA) with the Washington County seat (Washington, PA). The railroad was a subsidiary of the Pennsylvania Railroad and was originally 3 foot narrow gauge which was converted to standard gauge in the 1930's. In 1976, ownership passed from the Pennsylvania Railroad to CONRAIL and was abandoned shortly thereafter.

Note: The sky blue CD 133.4 had rim damage and was used in a trade. I later obtained another sky blue at another antique shop in the area (details in another post). I wish I had kept the deep blue, but it had lots of damage and I gave it to a fellow "bullet" collector from South Carolina. I felt it was to damaged to trade and this was a color that the SC collector did not have. My next post will be a map of the Waynesburg and Washington Railroad route [id=610062869].
