A street series incandescent street light dating back to around 1910-1920 also is seen here. Note the insulator used as a coupling between the end of the pipe and top of the fixture. These typically were CD 280s in glass or the porcelain equivalent (often Pittsburgs). The insulator provided electrical insulation between the pipe bracket and the fixture which had the potential to be subject to very high voltages if their was a break anywhere in the series lighting circuit.
