Numerous 2,400 volt primary circuits are seen on this pole which led to the downtown area of Quincy, MA (located a few miles south of Boston). System upgrading took place throughout the city during the 1920s and 1930s and new crossarms, insulators, wire and other equipment were installed in meeting growing electrical needs. Click "Previous" for more details and an overall view of this pole and the stretch of lines along this main thorofare leading to the Quincy's business district.

The heavier cables on the lowermost crossarm were for direct current trolley service. The two lighter guage wires on the left side of this arm likely were for the transit company's private telephone system, used for dispatching. The large boxes on the top crossarm probably were fuse cutout disconnect switches (possibly made of cast iron).
