Boston, 1919. Tall Electric Service Poles in City Neighborhood.

I believe these were cedar poles and pretty new when this photo was taken. Many of them are still standing in inner-city neighborhoods with construction like you see here, including the interesting crossover method seen in the background. Most if not all of the insulators used here would be CD 164s, mostly Brookfields and Stars.

A fire alarm circuit is seen atop these poles. In coming years these wires were relocated beneath Edison's lines.
