During the period between 1969 to 1971, I made several trips to hunt insulators on the Central of Georgia Railway telegraph line North from Macon, Georgia to Athens, Georgia. My favorite section was between Godfrey, GA to Madison, GA. My notes indicate the line had four tiers of insulators which were mostly common types including aqua CD 145 W. Brook, CD 145 B, CD 133 W. Brookfield insulators. Although, this was a typical Western Union telegraph line there were no CD 127 or CD 126.3 insulators - only CD 126 dome embossed Brookfield's. The unique insulators in this section included: three new signals that were not in my collection and a moderate number of CD 126 W U T Co Brookfield with two dates embossed on the lower wire groove of the insulator. These insulators were also found on other sections of the Central of Georgia, but in very low numbers. The exact embossing is as follows:

CD 126 W U T Co / Cauvets Pat / W Brookfield (front crown), 1 / Feb 22 70 / No 55 Fulton St NY (back crown), "Pat March 20 1877" on the front wire groove ridge, and "Pat Jan 25 1870" on the back wire groove ridge. There no periods were used and the "1" mold mark is small. The color of the CD 126 is powder blue with milk and this has a MLOD.

Since most of the insulators used on Georgia Western Union telegraph lines are CD 145 W. Brookfield CREB insulator, I wonder why there was no CD 145 insulators with WUT embossed on the skirt? There are CD 127, 126, and 126.1 with WUT and many Brookfield styles with ER embossed on the skirt. Can anyone answer the question or speculate on why there is not CD 145 or CD 126.3 Brookfield insulators embossed with WUT Co.?
