This is a character piece, a little rough, but the crudeness makes up for it. Embossing is C/H BROOKE'S PAT. Reverse is AUG 14 1883 and is ghost embossed as well. 1/4" very shallow flake up from base at right mold line, couple of other very insignificant flakes, 1/2" annealing line behind embossing as seen in photograph, 3/8" shallow upper wire ridge chip at right mold line, high point wear and nibbling on upper and lower wire ridges. I'm guessing this piece is in as-found condition. A light tumbling would do wonders for this piece. Now the attributes! Beautiful BROOKES BLUE! And this insulator has the most interesting array of cooling lines over most of the insulator surface I've ever seen! A piece of firebrick and several bubbles. An old, crude soldier! $125 includes postage. |
