Braintree is about 15 miles south of Boston. This always has been a busy rail line. Today it serves as a vital commuter rail stretch to Boston. In the center of this photo is an electric lighting service pole. Interestingly it has a small cluster of lightbulbs in a single fixture on top of it. This is sort of hard to see here but click "Previous" for a close view of it. The fixture likely was intended to illuminate the approach to the gate tender's area and the crossing.. Click "Next" for a full and closeview image of the telegraph pole on the right. |
