Here's an old Canadian Pacific Railway telegraph workhorse. These slug embossed [090] EIN CAN PAC 143s are believed to be the first generation of Canadian Pacific-marked insulator - the slug embossing believed to have been used to cover up the MONTREAL TELEGRAPH embossing found on the insulators previously made in this early mold. Because of their age, these slug embossed 143s don't turn up too often these days. This one was picked here in S.W. Ontario sometime in the early 2000s. It has stronger than usual embossing, which suggests it may be an early example. It's a standard light aqua colour, with some milky stringers in the rear skirt, and the narrow tapered pinhole found on some early Canadian 143s.

Damage on this one consists of a 1/2" front skirt chip as shown, a 1/4" rear lower wire ridge chip, and two areas of lower wire ridge roughness/wire rubbing/flaking on the front lower wire ridge - these being 1/2" and 5/8" long respectively. There are also a couple of small fleabites on the rear skirt.

I'm asking $10 USD plus shipping for this one. It has some damage, but it's still an old jewel that looks great on a shelf or in a window. I'm always happy to trade for early Canadian glass or Canadian-made porcelain insulators. I accept PayPal, or personal cheque from any member of ICON or any collector with whom I have dealt before. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more photos, and look through my other items or unsold sales stock to combine shipping on items.
