The lines on top are electric service ones, owned at the time by the Plymouth County Electric Company. The phone openwire beneath connected telephone subscribers. Examples of telephone openwire lines with closely-spaced pins here in the northeast are highly unusual. Typically even-spaced 10-pin arms were used. This kind of construction does not look like anything the New England Telephone & Telegraph Company ever used so it is possible the Southern Massachusetts Telephone Company operated in this community, which is near other towns that they served.
