Check out that gigantic gang-operated switch using big multipart porcelain insulators! These were operated by a vertical rod that extended down pararell to the pole to a throw-handle at about eye-level. The operator stood on a wooden platform supported by four multipart insulators for added protection during the switching maneuver.
