A pulley was mounted on the end of the fixture's arm and another next to the pole so that the luminaire could be lowered to ground level for maintenance. See photo. A hand-crank winch was placed approximately at eye-level on the pole using a heavy duty rope that went up through the pulleys and then to the top of the fixture. The electrical wires that connected to the fixture were draped with enough slack so they would still easily reach the fixture when it was lowered, eliminating any need to touch them.

Lynn is a city a few miles north of Boston.
