CD 1052 Hemingray spools - carnival glass size variant

Pictured here are two CD 1052 Hemingray-made spools. On the left is the standard size No Name [010] D-518 with a lead sleeve insert, measuring 3" wide x 2-7/8" high.

The piece on the right is a bit of an oddity. It's a CD 1052 No Embossing [010] in carnival. As you can see in the photo, it's ever so slightly smaller than the standard D-518. Comparing the two pieces with calipers, it's about 1/8" smaller all around (measures 2-7/8" wide x 2-3/4" high). It has an unpunched hole so it was clearly a dump piece, yet they also put a metal sleeve inside the hole. It doesn't appear to be lead. I think I've seen a few over the years, but they're definitely less common than the standard size CD 1052's.
