This was very common construction throughout the company's service area at street corners, etc., where tap lines ran lateral to the pole. Some like this one still are around. Boston Edison almost exclusively used pintype glass insulators and very few porcelain ones for 4kv and below. These mostly are CD 164, 165, 165.1 and 167. Many, many thousands of these insulators are in service today.
