When is the last time you saw one of these ancient monstrosities sitting on a utility pole? No doubt this is an air raid siren that was installed in the 40s or 50s. What looks like a relay box is mounted beneath it. From what I've managed to figure out, a separate pair of wires strung with the fire alarm circuits on the same crossarms operated (activated) them. There were several of these hulks in the Boston burb spotted with some ancient, abandoned fire alarm construction as it appeared some years ago that I am currently sharing here, thanks to Mr. Google. I am certain that these sirens haven't been connected in a very long time. What a go-with item, eh?
