Here's a very early threaded porcelain insulator likely made by Siemens & Halske in Berlin, Germany circa 1880-90. The winged eye hook is glazewelded on- a feature typically found on the earliest porcelain examples made. A later version of this without the eye or hook but retaining the wing was used on early Indian Railways.

Measures 3 1/2" W x 4 3/4" Tall. Marked with an "X" inside the inner skirt. Displays VNM++ but has 1 tiny and 2 small inner skirt flakes and a long thin scrape flake. Base of skirt has small hairline. [id=580336428 ]
