Here's a rare unlisted (in books/NIA website) porcelain insulator found in Spain. Marked CVM [id=579805650] This is an early pintype insulator made by Closter-Vielsdorf Meuselwitz (one of 4 factories operated by Closter Vielsdorf) circa 1900. What makes this insulator special is it appears the skirt was made separately from the pinhole/dome and possibly was glazewelded. Crudely made and appears unfinished prior to release from the factory as there is a large gap around the entire inside of the skirt [id=579805934] or possibly the plunger pushed too far causing separation. Never seen this feature before. Glaze is an unusual satin finish. This exact style and size is shown in a circa 1900-10 German insulator supply catalog produced for the Spanish market. Measures 3 3/4" W x 4" tall. Has inner skirt crack that appears to be glazewelded with no chips! Small spot of wire rub marks on lower skirt.
