Check out the two lowermost insulators. They sure look like darkly-colored threadless. But they could be porcelain "hats". Maybe. Of interest there was a railway nearby that led into Boston not far from this scene and it had very early telegraph lines pararelling it. So maybe some of the old stuff was saved and reused here?
