Boston Edison used porcelain insulators uncommonly, except for 13.8kv and higher applications. Their typical style was the CD 164 and similar designs (such as the 165.1 and 167). These include Gayners, Lynchburgs, Brookfields, Armstrongs', Whitall Tatums and other popular CD 164 makes. Many thousands of these are still in service on former Boston Edison poles and often (to this day) the glass gets carried over to the new pole during a changeover. |
