Communications are very important before, during and after any natural disaster as we know. The events after "The Big One" hit here in 1938 were no exception. The telegraph line you see was badly damaged during the hurricane [id=576450115]. Crews promptly got this Western Union line back in order as we can see in this image, taken from the same vantage point of the forementioned photo with the line pretty much knocked over..
