Apparently some of the wiring was not completed when this photo was taken. Although at least one CD 140 upon each arm was installed at the time (note pin closest to the wall). The subway was opened later in 1897. Photo taken between Park and Arlington stations. This stretch employed many of these big insulators. All were in close groups of four like we see here.
