Most of the Skagway - Victor and Cripple Creek transmission line is located on private property except one short stretch on public lands in an Aspen forest. Regular operation began in 1901 with two circuits, 30 cycle and 60 cycle, on R. Thomas & Sons Co. Boch Patent insulators. 30 cycle current was used for heavy equipment in the mining and traction industries and 60 cycle for lighting and regular motors, etc. In the following years additional circuits were installed. Sometime in the last 15 years the ancient poles were replaced. |
