(from Bismarck Tribune website) A picture of Memorial Highway in Mandan, or as those of us who currently or have lived in the area call it, the 'Strip'. A double-circuit 41.6kV line follows the Strip for most of its length, originally continuing over the Missouri via the old Liberty Memorial Bridge, but over the years, MDU has transferred most of the substations serving Bismarck and Mandan to the 115kV system (there are now only 3.5 subs still on the 41.6kV system in the metro area - the .5 being a bay built within another sub to power the last two 4160V lines in downtown Bismarck). Sky-glaze multiparts are unknown on MDU's 41.6kV lines - they jumped over to posts instead. After all that babbling, I'll just end with a comment noting that the 41.6kV portion of the line in the picture is now dead, its future uncertain.
