Here's a killer micanite/blackglass composition insulator. Feels like ebonite to the touch but clinks like glass. Possibly an experimental piece? Micanite is a mixture of mica and ebonite used in early 1900s insulators. I believe this may be the only known survivor of of the Micanite and Insulators Co. circa 1901 [id=319310954]. Has the small diameter pinhole typical of British insulators. Measures 2" wide x 3" tall. Recovered from Chile many years ago. Never seen another one like it- not even in Keith Neal's or Marilyn Albers collection. Heavier and different texture than ebonite examples I've handled in Albers collection. Easily VNM+ shape with only light usage scratches. For more interesting details and photos [id=333947440]. First email gets this rare and desirable micanite insulator for the slashed price of only $775 postpaid and insured. Can accept payment divided into 3 monthly payments! Thanks! |
