Up for grabs is a specimen condition example of the scarce and coveted SDP skirt-embossed (SKEB) Brookfield CD 145 in a deep green colour. This unusual combination of skirt embossing and SDP only seems to occur in a handful of shades from green aqua through to a dark green shade. This example is more towards the middle of the spectrum and is a fairly typical green shade. This piece saw use here in S.W. Ontario, where the majority of these seem to have surfaced. This example, as mentioned, is in awful condition. It was found upside down beneath a long-buried rotted crossarm and was broken into several small pieces. I painstakingly repaired it several years ago when I was on the hunt for examples of this style. It is missing a significantly sized chunk of the upper and lower wire ridge area on the right side of the front. As you can see, the right side of the skirt has been badly broken and re-glued. For whatever reason, these pieces seemed to be highly prone to fractures like this whenever they were found on the ground. Examples that remained on poles were in much better condition overall (no fractures). It also has the usual flaked drip points, amounting to about 1/3 of the drips on the piece having some degree of flaking. All in all, it's in horrible shape, but might fill a void in the collection if you're looking for an example of this scarce variation. If you are looking for one, then you probably know just how difficult it is to find one. I'm asking $25 USD plus shipping for this example. I accept PayPal, or personal cheque from any member of ICON or any collector with whom I have dealt before. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more photos, and look through my other items or unsold sales stock to combine shipping on items. |
