Up for grabs is an example of the scarce DOMINION - 6 error, wherein the more typical "9" style number appears to have been embossed upside down and backwards. Clearly this wasn't someone's best day in engraving the molds, and these must not have been produced for too long. All examples I've ever seen have been dated '49' (embossed to the left of the diamond D) and were made in this same mold - mold number '1' (embossed below the Diamond D). All examples I've seen, including this one, have also been in the [030] EIN with dull, hybrid drip points that I'd say are closest to SDP due to tiny points that make them feel slightly sharp to the touch but which could be easily considered RDP. This example originated from the Winnipeg area, while I have heard of several examples originating from Quebec and Ontario. I suspect these were used in significant numbers across Canada because of their late, mass production-era age, but they certainly remain difficult to find regardless. This example appears to be completely mint, but let's say VNM because of some very light scuffing in the wire groove. It's shiny as can be as well. I'm asking $50 USD for this piece, which I consider to be scarce. I accept PayPal, or personal cheque from any member of ICON or any collector with whom I have dealt before. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or for more photos, and look through my other items or unsold sales stock to combine shipping on items. |
