Theodore Seuss Geisel was a commercial artist before he became a children's author. One of his advertising creations was Chief Gansett who appeared on a number of Narragansett Beer related products, such as bar coasters and this beer tray, which is exceedingly hard to find in very good condition. Note the cartoon cat that appears to foreshadow the later appearance of a more famous feline sporting headwear that later became popular among Grateful Deadheads. Who knew?!?
