Here is an other look at the highly unusual double-grooved insulator I spotted yesterday on a very old line through some woods that apparently other collectors overlooked. I couldn't reach it and will be back with a ladder and will post more details. The lower part appears to have embossing. Click "Previous" for another view.

UPDATE: I hope everybody had a great April Fools Day because I certainly did :-) The insulator you see is a Browns pony with a two-piece transposition top silicone-glued together in making a rather surreal looking one-piece insulator! In fact, the assembled unit looks like some sort of exotic real deal even when you hold it! Now you know what you can do with all of those mismatched two-piece tramp tops, LOL :-)

Photo taken with the insulator posing on one of my functional outdoor display poles. The old wire ties are authentic.

This mechanically altered piece holds together really strong! A hammer will NOT be used to bring it back to unaltered state. If it was color-altered and if that concerned me the least bit, I would take a more humane approach and get hold of an inexpensive inscribing tool permanently etching "Altered" right into the glass.
