A lament

Picked up a 49-year set of CJ last fall from a collector's estate with the intent of reselling them (after pulling a couple issues I wanted to keep, like September 2000). Thing is, these went out into a storage shed out back, and which should not have been an issue, only, the shed got surrounded by a tall snowdrift earlier this month, and which was reduced to a big puddle in a freak rainstorm (due to where the weather front fell). An inch of water in the shed later, half the CJs were ruined. The tiny silver lining is that all the Harned-era issues were in the top layer as were many of the McDougald-era issues (but not September 2000) and are good. Unfortunately, the later McDougald issues and over half the Banks-era issues are so much cardboard.

Let this be a suggestion that a digitization project be undertaken such that this invaluable hobby resource can continue to be available for years to come, and not have to depend on increasingly fragile paper.
