Most likely this was part of the Edison Electric Illuminating Company of Boston territory at the time. In 1938 the utility became the Boston Edison Company.

I honestly don't think there was much this lone lineman could have done to save this rather shaky looking pole. Another lineman is seen on the left servicing a metal trolley pole.
