I obtained this beauty in what I would consider the best Pat 1871 specialty collection ever assembled. It is a super rare colored CD 124, embossed on crown Pat Dec 19 1871. This stunning shade of cornflower blue is the Holy Grail of the entire CD 124 family. I can only account for two others in this color (but, yes, there's always a chance there might be one or two others out there?). This example does have damage. There is a full circle angular fracture through the dome that comes off of a white bruise on the rear. Pic to the left is of the front and you can see the fracture angling down toward the upper wire ridge, but it is well disguised. There is also a slice to the left lower wire ridge. The right pic of the reverse side shows the larger white bruise on the dome. There is a smaller one to the right of it. This example was probably never reported by the previous owner, as it is not listed in this color under [010], having the solid raised circle on the dome top. A key addition to any color or 1871 specialty collection. As you can see in the left pic it displays quite nicely. A tough one to evaluate in this condition, but I will sell it to the first email I get for $750 (and it won't be the first rare insulator that I've sold too cheap!). Price is plus actual shipping/insurance (insurance is your option). Payment by check only, please. |
