I spotted this among some tree roots from a distance lying in the mud. It sure appeared to be a loaded handgun and my first thought was a firearm used in a crime and discarded in the flooded river. Did I need to call 911? I don't take my phone down there for fear of losing it or ruining it. I take photos with an old pocket camera. I approached it cautiously and instinctively looked around as if maybe someone was watching. I didn't want to pick it up so I contorted around so I could see the end of the barrel and it wasn't a normal gun barrel though it sure looked like slugs were in the revolver. There was writing visible on it and to my relief I could read "Crossman" and at the same time recognized the Crossman logo and knew then it was a pellet or BB gun. Turned out to be a gas powered BB type. Cleaned it up and I can tell you it's heavy and feels and looks like the real thing! How it got there or why will remain a mystery.
