The pounding of the river and constantly shifting ground has not been kind to the glass. Much of it is has been pulverized into dime sized pieces or smaller. Larger chunks of scrap glass are rarely larger than a baseball. Glass from the plants earliest days is mixed in with the 9 and 12 shards from the last restart attempts at production after drip points were patented to supplement demand on the Muncie plant for telephone pony types. All this is mixed with rocks, bricks, debris, trash and lots and lots of mud.
