Here's an scarce sim U-2015 porcelain no-tie insulator like the one shown in Buller Jobson & Co Catalog # EI 398 except this example measures 3"w x 5 1/4" tall. That's 3/8" taller than the U-2015 listing in the Worldwide Porcelain Insulators book and 3/8" shorter than the U-2017 on the NIA website. Has a lot of teeny brown specks in the off-white glaze indicating it was an early example made circa 1890. The claws were hand carved in the factory. Bullers made these in a bigger size for export to Spain. Additional companies are known to have made these including Manufacturas Ceramicas, Luis Berrenguer, Defuisseaux, Adolfo Heilscher and possibly others. I believe this is an early unmarked Luis Berrenguer example. According to a 1911 catalog these were made for low voltage applications. Excellent condition with only a teeny flake on the underside of one hook, teeny rub mark and some wire rust stains in the cable channels (seen in pic). Easily VNM condition and displays great on both sides! First email gets this desirable Spanish no-tie insulator. Thanks! |
