The fixture portion was connected to the end of its mounting pipe via a clamp that went around a CD 280 (or something similar). The top portion of the fixture had a pintype screw thread which the forementioned insulator was mounted upon. This method coupled the two ends together; the insulator safely isolating the inherent high voltage of some street lighting systems from the pipe bracket.
