Pictured here is one of the newly installed street lights on a side street in downtown Kankakee, Illinois on June 20th,1949. The Steak and Shake restaurant in the background was a popular eating place for a hamburger and a chocolate shake. Note the large Coca-Cola bill board and the fleet of Yellow Taxi cabs off to the right.
