During the late 60s and early 70s I shared many insulator collecting adventures with one of my cousins. He lived the next town over, so we hooked up rather frequently and took our bikes on some cool adventures. He was very fascinated by and enthusiastic about insulators and amassed a small collection in a short amount of time. I gladly was his mentor and he discovered a few local treasure troves that I would have otherwise missed. Among his acquisitions was this CD 134 Diamond-P. It has more clarity than any other aqua ones I have seen. I spotted it not too far from his house. It was on an old pole that had fire alarm wires on it. The location was in a busy neighborhood. Honestly, I did not have the "courage" to snag it. But after telling my cousin about it, he said it would be a pretty easy swap out. So, one evening in 1970 indeed it was! He had this piece for a while but knew that I wanted it rather badly since it would fit in well with the string of other Diamond-P's I had in my collection. We made a swap of some sort and ever since this sparkling aqua piece has had a comfortable place in my collection :-) Click "Next" for a view of the reverse side. |
