Here is the only known (to me) 1871-1893 dated Hemingray (or any other insulator for that matter!) that I have seen in this color. It can be described as vivid cobalt blue with purple undertones. I have done my best to capture its unique color. I got this insulator from Richard Case in 1974. He was selling his then-famous display of "Hawkeye Cobalts". This piece was among several very rare, exotic pieces he had and they were advertised in Crown Jewels right around January 1974. The only background he could provide about this one is that he got it at an insulator show in the early 1970s. At that time of his CJ advertisement my insulator hobby budget was next to nil. Remaining unsold for a little while, Richard was kind enough to accept a cool trade offer that I made. I have thoroughly enjoyed owning this piece during the past 45 years and have brought it to many insulator shows as a member of my displays. Click "Next" for a couple more views. |
