Here is a early British telegraph insulator. These date from the 1870s and were made in two pieces with the inner skirt cemented in. It is marked VARLEY PATENT 8 -- designed for 8 gauge wire. This one is in nice condition with just a wire rub and related flaking on the wire groove (visible in the photo right side). Figure $60 plus actual postage.
