Photo taken along what is now known as US 1 which closely pararells the coastline. This was a stretch of toll lead connecting Boston, MA with Portland, ME, approximately 75 miles in length. Much of this line was along US 1's right-of-way. It stood until the late 1920s or early 1930s when it was replaced by lead-sheathed copper-paired cable.
