Outdoor lights like this one were fairly commonplace around 1900 and a lot of them were used in parks, along railroad station waiting platforms, lining city sidewalks, etc. This one is in my side yard and was put together by using parts from several sections of old pipe poles that I salvaged, creating a close-to-original example. I also used a little personal license here by adding the cast iron insulator brackets for attaching the overhead wires (some were used like this in their day with these lampposts, so why not? :-).
