Many broken Hewlett suspensions and CD 121 glass insulators are all around the site. Telephone houses along the line had the interior wooden walls craved with accounts and records of storms and repairs on the line all the way back to 1909. Damage from lightning was a usual occurrence. Steel towers collapsed due to the strong winds alone on each side of Argentine Pass. Temporary wood pole structures were built quickly to support the line until the summer time, when more lasting repairs could be made.
