Two CD 342's from Colorado's famous "Locke 25 line" mounted on their original pins and complete pole top from 1904 . This pole once had two cross arms, the lower having four insulators. This configuration was changed in the late 1910's when all the remaining CD 342's that had not already failed were removed and replaced with newer insulators . The line was also converted at this time to a single circuit with only one crossarm with the new wood pins clamped to the side of the crossarm ends and a wood ridge pin . The lower four pin cross arms were generally reused but the upper two pin arm was discarded during the late 1910's rebuild making the finding an intact upper arm (after laying in the brush for 100 years) an exceedingly difficult task. It has taken many years of hunting to recover all the parts needed to put this together . |
