It's been quite a few years since I've found anything at estate sales but this one was advertised as having a "Huge Glass Insulator Collection" so I had to go (yesterday.) The pre-sale pictures showed a number of items with Telephone Pioneer markings and I later learned that the deceased was a Bell System employee. All good signs.

I arrived two hours early and there were already 23 people ahead of me! I saw that most of the insulators (there were over 300 glass and porcelain) were in the garage so I made a beeline when they let us in.

I was the first one to get to the insulator wall and quickly snatched up the pieces in the picture. The best piece is the Brooks ramshorn. The Maydwell milkglass is cool because it has a piece of red brick imbedded in the front skirt. There was also a giant Pyrex CD 331 but it had a 10" chunk of the top skirt missing :-( Many of the pieces had labels stuck to the skirts with dates of acquisition of 1969 & 1970.

Overall a decent haul for $154.00
