I guess I'll start the few photos I have in chronological order. This photo, being of an ancient, rusty padlock which I found turned up in the field alongside the abandoned tracks, is the first. I was pretty surprised to see it, and believe it or not, it actually still works...to an extent. The shackle part still moves freely, but doesn't lock (I hope not, as I don't have a key for it!). It occurred to me when I got home that this might be an early railroad lock for locking a circuit box or even a box car or something. Any thoughts?
