At a recent flea market, I picked up this large unit (marked 1970 over M over E in a box) stuck on a steel pin (that moves a little) which I believe to be a U-774 (8 3/8" x 5 1/2"). It has a radio-treated top and a massive flashover that melted the glaze and radio treatment to a crusty, bubbly mess! Besides the flashover and some scratches here and there, the insulator is otherwise undamaged. Interestingly, Elton Gish's excellent "Value Guide for Unipart and Multipart Porcelain Insulators" (3rd Edition) (2016) does not list this glaze color (chocolate brown) for the ME marked pieces--only Sky Tone. Maybe the Guide needs an update--maybe I've got the U-number wrong? Inquiries welcome.
