Here's a rare unlisted porcelain dryspot insulator made by Vista Alegre in Portugal (on the right in photo). Has the VA stamp marking, incuse marked "2", and the ATP stamp inside a bell on the reverse. The mark "2" is either designating this as dryspot style number 2 or possibly denoting its manufacturing date of 1902. Many countries in the early 1900s had 3 basic style numbers they used for specific Telephone and/or telegraph needs. For example, Germany had RM-1, RM-2 and RM-3. Brazil had SM-1, SM-2 and SM-3. What makes this example rare is that it measures 3 1/16 W x 4 1/2" T. That's a full 1/2 inch taller and 1/2 inch skinnier than the scarce but still more commonly seen style- in places like England and New Zealand (on the left). It also has the large pinhole to accommodate the threaded porcelain pin (not included). VNM+ condition with only a tiny match head wire groove flake and some scattered surface scratches. First email gets this rare example VA dryspot insulator (on the right) for only $150 plus shipping. The scarce example on the left is available for the reduced price of only $100 plus shipping. Buy them both and I'll include free shipping. Thanks! |
