Here are two unmarked Pittsburgh beehives. Both are exactly the same height and same base diameter. The one on the left is what I am use to seeing, that is normal. The one on the right was found at an estate sale and has a noticeable, higher elevation wire groove. Is that normal for Pittsburgh beehives or do I have something odd?

Answer: According to Elton Gish, the one on the right is odd and the result of a misaligned trimmer blade. Both are still U-148's.
