Here's a rare two-piece German Dryspot insulator made of white porcelain and bakelite. The unusual style dryspot insulator has a threaded porcelain insert that has four small canals for the wiring to be inserted prior to securing the threaded pin to the threaded porcelain cap. On the end of the porcelain insert is a bakelite fitting that goes over the end of the wire cable providing an electrical shield. This dryspot technology is very similar to the very early dryspots used in England as lead-in insulators in circa 1875-90s. Marked with JP inside a circle on both pieces. Mfr unknown. Rather small insulator roughly only about 2 1/2" x 2 1/2". This style insulator is similar to early antenna insulators except for its unique wire channels. Later examples were mounted on the end of a long pin to enable better reception to radio communications.

Insulator is in VNM condition with only minor flakes on the threaded insert piece. Original soot on porcelain insulator cap.
