I know these are referred to as Mexican fence post insulators, but what were they really used for or made for? Piano leg insulators? Stool deflectors? Bad drinking cups?

Update! From what I've gathered and been told by fellow collectors these items are just whimsy from around 1999-2000. Makes more sense than a fence post insulator (that's what Surges are for right??)
