James Bancroft and I spent a few days in the Scottish Highlands hunting for insulators last week. It was quite an enjoyable experience in the midst of some of the most picturesque landscapes anywhere on earth. We were mostly searching along abandoned railways looking for Cordeaux patterns. The first step is ascertaining what side of the ROW the telegraph lines ran on. The next is finding pole stumps and then scrounging about for any insulators that might be laying nearby. This is a pole stump covered in moss. |
